Overview of role

As the senior paid member of staff, the Director will provide inspiring leadership to Shire Hall Museum, overseeing the strategy, policies, plans, budget, and operations to ensure the delivery of the Charity’s aims and ambitions. The Director will establish an excellent working relationship with the Board of Trustees and staff and implement the Museum’s strategy.

The Director will provide overall leadership for the Museum and play a lead role in securing the organisation’s financial sustainability, to ensure it becomes a thriving, resilient organisation.

Key ambitions for the Trust in the next 18 months

  • Museum accreditation.
  • Development of a new strategic vision for the next 5 years.
  • Refresh the Museum’s interpretation and online presence in support of its mission and to enhance the visitor experience for existing and new audiences.
  • Development of CPD provision for Shire Hall staff team.
