Have you ever wondered what happens to treasure that is found locally?

Find out in our upcoming talk: The Portable Antiquities Scheme & the Treasure Act.

Every year thousands of archaeological objects are discovered, mainly by metal detector users, but also by people gardening, out walking or going about their daily work.

The Finds Liaison officer for the Portable antiquities Scheme in Dorset aims to encourage the recording of these finds and the reporting of Treasure. This talk will cover the background of the PAS, the definition of Treasure, illustrate the range of material recorded, and introduce the PAS database.
