We’ve been given the Good To Go Mark by Visit England.
We conform to the latest government and industry COVID-19 guidelines. This means we have measures in place to maintain cleanliness and social distancing.
You do not need to pre-book tickets. Existing annual passes have been extended for 3 months (a bit of good news for a change) You can pay by cash but we encourage you to make contactless payment where possible.
Inside the Building-
We have a new one way system in the museum, shop and café to help visitors to social distance. (We promise it isn’t too confusing down in the cells) You will also find automatic hand sanitiser stations throughout the museum. We require visitors unless exempt to wear a face covering.
You will still be able to experience our immersive audio guide. These will be thoroughly cleaned between each use, but you may feel more comfortable bringing your own headphones, feel free to do so but make sure they’re the jack style.
You can still enjoy food and drink in our airy café, we have a reduced menu but still have lots of cake. Hand sanitiser is available in the cafe. Our tables have been set up in line with government guidance. We will be taking details from one person per party for track and trace, these will be kept for 21 days and then discarded inline with GDPR. If you feel more comfortable (or you’re just in a hurry) we now offer take away. We even have outside seating now, so treat yourself to someone else’s cooking at last.
Bringing the children?- You’ve done your bit homeschooling, let Bert take it from here! We’ve got a brand new family trail. Follow the trail with cartoon cat Bert and see if you can spot all the weird and wonderful objects in Shire Hall. We’d be really grateful if you could bring your own pencils (we don’t like to think of them in quarantine)
