As part of Dorset Architectural Heritage Week, Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum is offering free behind the scenes tours
These tours take visitors away from the usual visitor routes and public parts of the building, to describe more detail about the building itself and the things that we can discover from these hidden bits of history. The tours take visitors down secret staircases and through doors that would normally be closed to the public.
Tours run daily at 3pm from September 6 – 16, with additional 11am tours on Thursday 6 – Sunday 9 September and Thursday 13 – Sunday 16 September. Tours meet in the entrance hall.
Please note: The tour does not include access to the normal museum experience. Tours will be 45 minutes to an hour long. Tours are not bookable. Tours will include steep staircases and low lit areas. Tours will have to be limited to 10 people, and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
